Everyone is working from home due to the COVID-19 crisis and adjusting to a new daily routine. As you try to maintain business operations, how do you keep a positive company morale, and stay connected as a team? Here are some best practices for working from home and preserving your team connection while everyone is out of the office:
Use Video Conferencing
Sitting in a meeting room together is not an option right now, but video conferencing is a great way to connect face-to-face while everyone is working remotely. Schedule a weekly call with your team to connect on projects, share challenges, and see each other. Everyone is juggling many roles working from home, but it is nice to see work friends and colleagues each week during this trying time.
Have Some Fun
Working remotely can be lonely – especially when you are used to seeing everyone in the office each day. Schedule time for a coffee chat, trivia game, or some fun activity for your teams to connect on something other than work-related projects. Maybe a weekly status meeting combined with a coffee break with everyone wearing silly hats? Or how about a competitive trivia game on a Friday afternoon? Finding ways to connect your team while everyone is home can be a fun distraction.
Keeping Morale High
Making sure your teams are staying positive can be challenging when you can’t meet in person. Try to make the transition from office to remote working a fun challenge for everyone. This current crisis won’t last forever, but instilling resilience in your teams will help everyone come together, work towards the same goals, and ensure they stay positive during this uncertain time.
Our Payescape team has moved to remote working and although we miss being in the office together, we have found ways to stay connected. We have weekly team meetings using video, have coffee mornings together, and we’ve even had a full staff meeting with more than 40 smiling faces on one screen! We are all in this together – with a little fun (and video conferencing) we can stay positive and stay connected. To learn more about Payescape, click here
